Scarborough State of Mind
By Pebz aka HisBrother
Scarborough raised him. The streets shaped him. Loss sharpened him.
Scarborough State of Mind is the raw, unfiltered memoir of a first-gen Filipino kid navigating loyalty, grief, hustle, and hope in Toronto’s east end.
From hallway haircuts to barbershop rites of passage… from stolen moments with family to near run-ins with the law… from the loss of his brother to the lessons it sparked—this isn’t just a story, it’s a survival guide for anyone trying to build something real out of the chaos.
Blending memoir, street wisdom, and self-help, Pebz delivers 14 laws of life forged through fire, love, and legacy. This book speaks to the ones who feel unseen, misunderstood, or one step from giving up. The ones who still believe.
Scarborough made him.
This is his truth.
This is his blueprint.

About the Author
HisBrother Pebz is a Scarborough-born creative, barber, and cultural observer with roots that run deep through the east end of Toronto. A first-generation Filipino-Canadian, he was raised in a household of tradition, surrounded by the raw rhythm of Scarborough streets, Caribbean influence, and the grind of immigrant life. Before the fades and the verses, it was always basketball. Courts taught him patience, pressure, and pride. Barbershops taught him presence. Life taught him pain—and how to move through it. After losing his brother in 2016, everything shifted. Music became therapy. Cutting hair became clarity. And writing became a way to pass down wisdom—not just for his son, but for anyone trying to break cycles and build something real. Scarborough State of Mind is his debut book. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being present. Real. Intentional. Spiritual. Rooted. This is for the ones still searching. Still healing. Still here.
